Reiki is a form of energy healing that has been used for centuries to enhance physical, mental, and spiritual health. The word Reiki is derived from two Japanese words – “rei” meaning “universal life energy,” and “ki” meaning “vital energy flow.” Reiki is a combination of these two making it a form of energy healing. It is a holistic modality aiming to balance energy centers in the body. There is a common misconception that Reiki is based on supernatural forces, but it is more accurately understood as a system of natural healing. Reiki is a hands-on healing modality practiced by practitioners of varying degrees and training. A Reiki practitioner serves as a conduit for the Universal Life Energy, channeling the energy and directing it to the patient in order to heal physical, emotional and mental conditions. Reiki healing is done through the hands of the practitioner and can be done in-person or remotely. All patients, regardless of their spiritual beliefs, can experience the healing benefits of Reiki.
When practicing Reiki, the sessions usually begin with the practitioner asking the patient to close their eyes, relax and exhale. During the session, the practitioner gently places his or her hands on specific parts of the body in order to send the energy. The practitioner may also use symbols, hand motions and chanting to heighten the effects of the energy. After the session, the practitioner is encouraged to provide feedback to the patient in order to aid in further healing. The effects of Reiki can be felt almost instantly, with some people feeling a tingling sensation or warmth in their body when the energy is activated. People who have experienced Reiki have reported feeling a range of benefits, including increased energy levels, a greater sense of inner peace, reduced stress and anxiety, and improved physical and emotional wellbeing. Reiki is excellent for treating a wide range of physical and emotional conditions, from chronic pain and fatigue to depression, anxiety and PTSD. It is also a great way to prevent health problems and keep the body in balance. Reiki is a holistic approach to health, since it helps to treat the mind, body and spirit as a unified system. Reiki has become more mainstream in the medical world, and more and more hospitals are beginning to offer this energy healing modality. Reiki can be used alone or in combination with other forms of therapy, such as massage and meditation, in order to gain the maximum benefit. Although it can never replace traditional treatments, it is an important tool for healing and integrating the mind, body and soul. Remote Reiki Sessions are available for booking with me HERE.
