How do you create lasting habits and be who you want to be? We are into the new year! You may have decided to make a resolution or two… how is that going? I’ll be honest.. I didn’t make any. My new year started in a whirlwind and here we are… the 12th of January and I’ve not made a single resolution! So, off we go… Here’s my plan for the year ahead: More Movement. Any kind of movement that allows me to feel good about my body and all the wonderful things it can do for me. What does that look like for me?
More Mindfulness. For me this will look like spending more time doing the following:
More Time Management. I’m incredibly talented at avoiding stuff that I need to do. So my goal is to manage my time better and stick to it. But how can I make these resolutions and goals lasting habits and become who I want to be? Write it down. Yup. It’s that simple. Write it down here. Write it down on a screen saver on my phone. Write it down on a post-it note attached to my bathroom mirror. (That’s a favorite of mine!) Tell Others. Speak up about your goals! Telling your friends and family and inviting them to discuss your goals with you can create an accountability process for you. Shout it out! Invite in that gentle nudge! Anticipate roadblocks. What might get in your way to achieve your goals? Think about it. Write them down. Figure out how you can avoid the obstacles and make your path to success a smooth-ish one!
