I LOVE gyro meat! So it was only a matter of time until I tried to replicate those amazing flavors with a turkey dish!
I know, I probably seem obsessed with ground turkey, but I'm doing my best to eat flavors that I enjoy, but also lower my fat intake. I'm not a dietician or nutritionist; I'm making meals and choosing foods that feel right to me.

1 ts cumin
1 ts garlic powder
1 ts thyme
1/2 ts salt

+ Combine all ingredients together in a bowl, mixing well by hand.
+ Form into a loaf in a pan.
+ Bake in a pre-heated 350° oven for 50-60 minutes (until center reaches 165°).
+ Slice into 8 equal slices. 2 slices is a serving.
The entire meal as shown is 361 calories.
The meal includes:
1 serving Gyro-inspired Turkey Loaf
2 oz. carrots, steamed
1 serving Tzatziki Sauce (recipe below)
1/2 serving basmati rice* combined with 1/4 roma tomato, chopped.
*See image below calorie breakdown for the rice I used for this meal.
This rice is sold at Smith's (in Las Vegas) and other Kroger family stores. One pouch is 2 servings. I divide the pouch into 4, so I'm technically eating half a serving per meal. I try to keep my carb calories to around 100 calories per meal. In this meal I also chopped 1 roma tomato and mixed it with the rice for extra flavor and volume.
